Is Meg Whitman going to be named as CEO of HP?
September 23rd, 2011 - 12:01 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew York, Sept 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) There are reports that Meg Whitman is all set to be named as the CEO of Hewlett-Packard. She is the former chief executive of the auction giant eBay and a lot is riding on her shoulders as expectations from her are very high.
Presently HP’s current chief executive is Leo Apothekar and if the reports turn out to be true, then Meg Whitman would soon be filling in his shoes and the company officials would be hoping for a much needed turnaround for the troubled company.
AllThingsD website reports that, “The full board of HP, which is meeting today in Silicon Valley, has not officially voted on [the] move and the situation could certainly change, sources said it is nearly a done deal.”
The 55 years old Meg was at the helm of eBay for a decade and was associated with the company till 2008. She is a pretty rich woman as her personal wealth is thought to be in excess of $1 billion, as per the Forbes 400 report. That’s perhaps the reason why Meg could afford to spend more than $170 million of her own personal cash when she unsuccessfully tried to run for the Californian Governor election, in which the eventual winner was Jerry Brown.
