Is Apple’s iPhone 4 Apology Enough?

55 July 5, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Apple’s iPhone 4 reception issue is known to one and all. Apple has always been proud of its carefully-honed attention to detail and aesthetics. So, the apology for a faulty signal from this company comes as a rare admission.

However, the company took over a week to issue an apology. It has been receiving numerous complaints daily regarding the fourth-generation iPhone when it is held in the left hand.

According to many, it is a fault with the antenna, which is on the outside but the company continued to say that it’s all about mathematics and can be resolved with a simple iOS 4 update.

It is reported that the users of iPhone 4 are still not convinced that the issue can be solved by a firmware update. They think this problem is hardware related.

In their Friday release, the company admitted to something being wrong with the design of their smartphone.

The company said, “In some cases, by mistake our formula displays two more bars than it should show. For example, it displays 4 bars when it should display only 4 bars. Users, who observed a fall in the numbers of bars when they hold their iPhone in a particular way, are most probably due to very weak signal. But the fact is not clear to them that this is due to displaying of the wrong signals as the high bars were never real.”

One more fact that has come out is that the ‘error’ existed in the original iPhone too but was never noticed earlier. Apple has announced that it will issue a free update of software for the iPhone 3GS and also for the newer iPhone 4.
