The Droid actually did not kill the iPhone but it sold in record numbers in the months after its release. The buzz around the new iPhone 4 which is a major update over its predecessor is quite high and the much anticipate phone is hitting the stores in many places today.

To counter the iPhone 4 threat Verizon has come up with the successor to the original Droid named Droid X. The tech pundits are divided in their opinion regarding the possibility of the Droid X taking on the new iPhone 4.

As a matter of fact the iPhone 4 has many improvements over its predecessor iPhone 3GS and it has received rave reviews from the experts already. The images and specs of the Droid X hit the web a few weeks back so it’s unveiling does not really come as a huge surprise. The Droid X is yet to hit the stores but if the initial response and pre ordering euphoria is anything to go by it may give the iPhone 4 a run for its money. The reports suggest that the Droid X will hit the stores on July 15.

The processing speeds of both the phones are at par and Droid X may launch with a beefy CPU inside. The iPhone 4 has a smaller display but owing to its higher resolution edges slightly ahead of the Droid X in the resolution department. The phones will put long time rivals AT&T and Verizon Wireless at loggerheads again.
