HP DreamScreenAccording to the sources, HP is desperately planning out to place smart screens around the home so as to display content from the web and PC’s although it is being reported that the number of websites that will be initially available will be very limited.

Sources reveal, that the HP DreamScreen has reportedly announced on Thursday that it can display content from the Web without being attached directly to a PC via its in-built wireless applications. What we are really trying to do is bring a simple, user intuitive device that is always on, always connected to the internet, to bring Web applications that don’t require PC’s,” said Ameer Karim, the director of worldwide marketing with HP’s features and innovations group. The DreamScreen can also play music and videos via its inbuilt speakers that enables it to carry out such mammoth applications.

According to HP, the screens reportedly uses a remote control as well as a touch panel for input. It can also be used as an alarm clock, as a weather forecast device and can play as many as 15,000 worldwide radio stations.

With a bountiful of advantages there are few drawbacks of DreamScreen as well. The Screens doesn’t have a browser, hence the visibility of web content is limited. But instead of that HP has tied up with various content providers and Internet companies in order to develop interfaces so as to display their very own content. The initial partners of HP with whom the company is tied up with are the social networking site Facebook, the music site Pandora and the site dealing with photos i.e. Snapfish.

The new experimentation from HP is worth a try out.
