haloreach-zealotsword Sep 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Microsoft has announced that its “Halo: Reach” grossed some $200 million within the first 24 hours of its release.

The figure makes “Halo: Reach” the biggest grossing entertainment launch in the United States in 2010. The vice president of Microsoft Game Studios Phil Spencer said the Halo franchise has become one of the popular entertainment properties in the world.

The game has become the biggest Microsoft game ever and its debut gross has surpassed that of every game, movie and entertainment launch in 2010. The game went on sale on Tuesday, and just after midnight eager fans snatched up their copies from thousands of retail stores throughout the United States and Europe.

There were major events in London, Stockholm, Oslo, Seattle and New York to mark the launch of the game.

“Halo” was first released in 2001 and three subsequent releases were made before “Halo: Reach”. The beta version of “Hale: Reach” was released in May and about 2.7 million people played the game spending some 16 million hours in the process. “Halo 2″, “Halo Wars” and “Halo 3: ODST” are the other “Halo” brands Microsoft has released since the first release of the game in 2001.
