Nov 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) With its latest offering GeForce GTX 580 GPU Nvidia is back in the game and the DX11 enabled graphics card from the company promises to bring unprecedented levels of realism into current generation games. This is the flagship graphics card from the company based on its much touted Fermi architecture. Nvidia claims that this card will offer 30 percent better performance than the earlier generation GTX 480 graphics card. To keep the card cool while playing resource hogging and visually intensive games the company has bundled a new thermal cooling solution with it. It also offers full support for Nvidia’s SLI and 3D Vision technology.
The new GeForce GTX 580 graphics card’s core clock is rated at 772 MHz. The GDDR5 memory is rated at a speed of 1002 MHz. It is now available for sale around $499 and partners like MSI, Asus and PNY have announced their models based on the prototype. Among the GTX 580 variants the model marketed by Asus may win the race particularly in the performance segment. It is ideal for those gamers who need to over clock their cards for enhanced performance.
Asus has hiked the core clock speed of the GTX 580 to 782 MHz. The demanding users are allowed to push it all the way up to 1157 MHz. Theoretically it shows that the overclocked card offers a 50 percent boost in performance. Even though some tech review sites are saying this is the fastest GPU as of now, the real picture seems different. The Radeon 5790 with dual GPUs runs just as fast and it is also available at the same price point.
