logitech-revue-13-620x364Sep 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Eric Schmidt the CEO of Internet search giant Google has said the Google TV will be launched and the news has created sensation in the tech industry as one can understand. The Google TV is all set to make its debut this year and the residents of the USA will be the first users to experience the service in all its glory. However, it would be wrong to assume that Google is going to sell any hardware unit or LCD TV as such. That is not the case. Android OS was developed by Google and now leading cell phone makers use it in their phones. Similarly Google TV is an app that will be used by electronic giants who would offer cutting edge web TV services to their customers.

Logitech has revealed a set top box named the Revue that will support Google TV. Sony is also going to unveil a TV that will integrate this service. The HD DVR receivers from Dish Network are going to be specially optimized for this application as it has been reported. The exact cost of the service is yet to be known. Google may price the service competitively to score well against Apple TV.

As far as the CEO of Google is concerned the company has no plans to get into content production and will rely on third party content providers. Sony has made a deal with Google to grab a bigger pie in the still nascent bur promising web TV market. Samsung is also keen for such an alliance as the industry sources have suggested.
