Marrissa Mayer Mountain View, Nov 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The young and charismatic thirty-four year old Google’s Vice President of Search Product and User Experience Marissa Mayer is named as the Glamour Magazine’s 2009 Women of the Year. She is joined by the likes of Maya Angelou, First Lady Michelle Obama, Susan Rice, Euna Lee and Laura Ling.

She was also recently profiled in a Vogue article that offered a sneak peak into her life and her lifestyle and other interests. In the article she revealed her favorite brands Oscar, Carolina, Etro, Tuleh, Angel Sanchez, and Armani. She is married to Zack Bogue, who is a lawyer, investment manager, athlete and a philanthropist as well. Both of them share a deep abiding love for cooking.

Both of them are work-alcoholic as well. Mayer says, “I like to get myself in over my head. Zack has that same trait”. “We continue to do work in the evening,” says Bogue. “There’s never a distinct line between work and home. Marissa’s work is such a natural extension of her. It’s not something she needs to shed at the end of the day.” He adds wryly, “She has converted me to bringing my laptop everywhere: You never know when you’ll get fifteen minutes’ worth of work done.”

She is a MA from Stanford in Computer Science. She turned down a lucrative teaching job to land up at Google. She joined Google in 1999 as Google’s first female engineer and led the user interface and web server teams at that point, and then rose through the ranks to be a senior leader at Google today.
