San Francisco, May 21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Google, Intel and Sony have come together in an effort to unite the television and the web. The three companies together launched the “Google TV” yesterday. While Microsoft and Apple had earlier attempted to bring the internet to people’s homes, they failed to do so, and now with Google, Apple’s rival in the market doing what the latter could not, it looks like the newly launched “Google TV” will soon be a hit in the world television advertising market.
Google announced that it will provide the search boxes for television sets manufactured by Sony, a search box which will be equipped with internet facilities. Intel on the other hand will provide the minute Atom processors to run these television sets. People who use this TV set will be able to access the internet as well as watch television at the same time.
It is evident that people are eagerly waiting for the set to hit the markets. Google has issued a statement saying that “Google TV” will be available to buyers from the 2010 fall season, which means in the month of September or October, keeping in mind the holiday season this year. Rishi Chandra, Google’s group product manager, speaking to the media in San Francisco said that he is confident of the fact that “Google TV” will change the concept of TV-watching henceforth. It has also been said that the operating system of the new “Google TV” will have a Chrome web browser to surf different websites and an Android Market to download applications of the user’s choice. Not only this, the search function in “Google TV” will be equipped with faster navigation of channels, movies or shows.
