Nov,26 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a recent development that created a stir in the political circles, Google, the Web search giant sought apology after a controversial image of Michelle Obama appeared in its search results. According to the sources, the picture of the first lady of USA was edited to resemble the appearance of a monkey. The image was seen doing the rounds in the web for a few weeks before making foray into Google image search results.
As one can expect, Google took immediate steps to prevent getting embroiled in any sort of political controversy. It put a link in the search page to explain the situation and express its apology. Google later expressed its view that sometimes its web search results can produce disturbing content, which is certainly not the search giant’s making. Google ranks web pages following a computer algorithm that calculates a page’s relevance against a given query by judging its content and keywords etc.
The SEO experts often end up tricking Google into believing a web page is highly relevant by using references and several onsite and offsite optimization methods. When somebody wants to boost the ranking of a page with offensive contents and succeeds in doing so it creates a stir in the internet. This is precisely what happened with the controversial image of Th First Lady. The White House has not reacted or issued any statement over the matter so far. Google has also made it clear that it does not support this practice and is strictly against endorsing the contents of these sites.
