New York, Dec 7 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Internet search giant Google has launched its Google eBookstore.
The Google eBookstore which has been discussed several months now was finally unveiled yesterday by Google. Google says it has the highest collection of book titles in the world. The eBookstore has about three million titles in its collection.
Though some of the books will be offered for sale, others will be available for free for users to browse and read them up. The company said hundreds of thousands of the book will be sold to users who patronize the service.
What might make the eBookstore outstanding from other such service is the ability to read the contents on any web-enabled platform. Most of the online bookstores available only allow contents to be read only on dedicated devices like the iPad and the Amazon Kindle.
Google enters the ebook sales market just as it is about to boom. It is predicted that this year, almost $1 billion worth of ebooks will be sold this year and the about is expected to triple in five years to $3 billion.
Though some of the books will be made available in PDF format, Google will prevent the copying of contents.
