google-b The users who have long wished that Google the Internet search giant could do with a jazzed up homepage have reasons to rejoice.

Google has finally decided to bid adieu to plain vanilla white homepage and is offering the users the option to customize their search pages. There are some pre defined backgrounds to choose from or the users can upload their preferred image.

From the move it is quite obvious that the default homepage image would be changed rapidly just to make the users aware about the change itself.

The move by Google is being seen by many as an endeavor to outshine rival Microsoft Bing. The bing site shows a new image everyday chosen by Microsoft. In Google’s new custom background scheme the users can upload images from their PCs.

As an alternative they can use Google’s own Picasa to get photos of their choice. Not all users can avail this feature now, but Google has said that they will soon be able to do that. If anyone thinks that the home page of Google which used to load in flash will slow down owing to the background they are mistaken.

Even with the custom image the Google homepage is loading with the same speed in all web browsers. However, the users who have no fascination for a custom image background and want the familiar bare white page, can retain it.

Google is keeping both the options open. It is just a touch of personalization. As is the case with anything Google does, the custom, background has made many web users interested.
