May 6, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Google is all set to give its competitors a run for their money. The authorities in Google have said that the search results page of the world’s most popular search engine is going to get decked in a whole new avatar. The new layout of the homepage is going to display a new column on the left hand side, which will be displaying a series of navigation options. The new range of options are going to ensure that the visitors are able to search better and find what they are looking for faster and more easily. The navigation options include the date and content type of the results, and would also allow the users to search by other links via the suggestions that are given.
This is the most notable face lift that has been given to the search page of Google in the last three years. The authorities claim that this has been undertaken in an effort to give some serious competition to the other competitors in the market, namely, Microsoft and Yahoo, which have been undergoing makeovers in order to increase the searchability. The most serious competition possibly came from Microsoft, which had launched its search engine Bing about a year back and since then have eaten into about 12% of the market share in the United States.
Besides helping in better searchability for the users, the new layout of the Google search page is also going to allow the giant to move beyond its present array of text based advertisements to those of other types, namely, video, display and so on. Advertisement is one of the major revenue sources for Google.
