google-nexus-one1July 20, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Google has announced that it will no longer sell the Nexus One smart phone in the USA. The Smartphone which got good reviews from the tech experts did not sell that well in the market. The sales figure of the phone did not match the hype it generated before launch. It was pitted as a worthy contender to the Apple iPhone but could not even come near it. Te device could not compete well against other Droid based sets either. The set did not sell as expected and the efforts to sell the set from retail outlet did not work as expected. It was quite expected that Google will discontinue the model sometimes.

Last week the company decided to close sales of the Nexus one in the USA. However, the existing users of the phone will be able to get customer support as Google has assured. Google has also said that carriers like Vodafone will still sell the Nexus One in the UK. This reminds one of what happened to the much touted kin from Microsoft. The kin a latest Smartphone was developed by the Redmond based company after spending huge amounts in research and development. It has been withdrawn from the market.

It is not known whether Google will release a successor to the Nexus One following the example of Droid by Motorola. The Nexus One has sold about a little over 130000 units. This is not a huge number by any means particularly when one considers the success story of the Droid and iPhone. The company has not said anything about a successor to the Nexus One.
