While Microsoft’s much anticipated IE9 Public beta is just around the corner the hardcore geeks are more interested in two heavyweight contenders, namely Chrome 6 and Firefox 4. Both the browsers are currently in their beta versions and it will take some time before full versions hit the web. While Mozilla is of the opinion that Firefox 4 will break the speed records Google has packed truckloads of new features in Chrome 6 its upcoming browser. Firefox presently holds the second spot in web browser market and Chrome is making great progress since its inception.

Chris Blizzard who is the head of the web development of Mozilla said that Firefox may trail behind Chrome in synthetic benchmarks now but when the final version of Firefox 4 is released the scenario will change drastically. However, Chrome 6 beta may pose a challenge to the hopes of Mozilla since it has got many core features redesigned. Chrome 6 Beta offers improvements in stability and bookmark management. James Hawkins a Google engineer said in the Chrome blog that version 6 will be up to 15 percent faster than its predecessor.

Chrome which has always been a favorite with users for its minimal interface clutter has got slight interface revamp in version 6. Auto fill is a feature Google is boasting of, but it is not unfamiliar to web users as such. Google also said that new updates to Chrome will be doled out shortly as has been its tradition.
