Oct 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) According to various news reports that have been constantly floating in the tech world, Google has planned to come up with 3D representation of major towns and cities which are witnessed in Google Earth. The search engine giant reportedly launched a tool called Building Maker on Tuesday which will enable the users to convert a flat image into a 3D one. The startling revelation from the company suggests that the web users can now readily transform the 2D images that were present in Google Earth into three dimensional ones to provide a more accurate outlook of the selected cities and places.
“We like to think of Building Maker as a cross between Google Maps and a gigantic bin of building blocks. Basically you pick a building and construct a model of it using aerial photos and simple 3D shapes - both of which we provide,” said Mark Limber, the Google product manager in the company’s blog post. Google officials said that the new tool is quite an addictive one and will draw in more users to incorporate their ideas to produce accurate representation of buildings within a span of few minutes.
The users have to submit the images to Google’s 3D Warehouse. Google officials will then have a detailed review of the submitted images created by the web users. The accepted images will bear the name of the user as a credit.
Sources revealed that Building Maker is now currently available in 21 cities. Although the tool is supported by all browsers, still the Mac users will have to download the Google Earth plug-in. Google’s new venture surely puts a mark in the world of technology.
