Germany Stops Employers To Peep Into Facebook Account Of Prospective Employees

There is good news for those employees who have become worried about their employers tracking them down on Facebook and taking action against them for expressing their candid feelings online. A new law is about yet be implemented in Germany which will prevent the employers from peeping into the Facebook accounts of the prospective hires.

It has been found out that the employers often reject applicants for factors such as Alcohol and drug abuse, racist attitude, lying about academic credentials which they find in their Facebook accounts. As much as 45 percent bosses user social networking sites to track the background of the prospective candidates. Almost 35 percent of such employers reject the candidates based on their findings. Some employees have also been fired from their present jobs after employers found them foul mouthing about the company. The news has come as a breather for the Facebook who are unwilling and reluctant to deactivate their account to stop the employers prying into their privacy. The several parties in German coalition government have given the new law a thumb up.

The law is going into effect shortly and it has to be cleared by the German cabinet. However, even after the new law is implemented the employers will be able to peek into job related networking sites to gather information on employees. The employees have now got cyber to on their side, in Germany at least!
