Dec 22, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Federal Communications Commission gave its nod to implement new rules that stops cable and phone companies from booth favoring and discriminating against web content and service. The step taken by the FCC has made sensation in the media and technology industry. Julius Genachowski the FCC chairman gave a presentation at Washington D.C and the news was revealed there. The Ruling democrats are backing the new move while the GOP candidates are up in arms against it. The Republicans later responded to the speech of the FCC chairman by saying that the new rule will receive setback from them.
If the new FCC rules about the net neutrality are implemented the way we access the web and download content may get changed for sure. The FCC thinks the way people surf Internet from computers and wireless devices should not be the same. The entity differentiates the wireless and wired web service providers. As per its recommendation more facilities will be given to the wireless web service providers. The FCC chairman is of the opinion that ” unique technical issues involving spectrum and mobile networks, the stage and rate of innovation in mobile broadband; and market structure” are the reasons the priority given to these two types of providers should be different.
The new rules also require the Internet service providers to be clear about the network management practice they adopt to the end users. They are also not supposed to block some Internet traffic to the users. U.S. President Barack Obama is among the proponents of the new FCC rules. He thinks it will help protect user rights and keep the Internet open and free to the users.
