New York, July 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The popular social networking site Facebook is all set to launch a ‘panic button’ application on its site.
The company is taking this initiative in an endeavor to make its social networking site safer for its young users. The Facebook officials said that through the aid of the panic button the young users of the site would be able to report ‘any suspicious online behavior’ and they would also be able to get to know some safety advice, which they ought to follow while accessing the Internet.
With the aid of the application the users can report any malicious behavior to the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre and to Facebook as well.
The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre and Facebook have been involved in discussions for over months now, over this issue. The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre is an agency, which is based in Britain whose objectives is to track the online sex offenders.
“Together we have developed a new way of helping young people stay safe online. It is only through the constant and concerted efforts of the industry, police, parents and young people themselves that we can all keep safe online,” according to Joanna Shields, who is the Facebook’s vice president for Europe, Middle-East and Africa.
