Dec. 15, (THAINDIAN NEWS) These days many parents are worried about their child’s addiction to the social networking sites and making friends with strangers with whom they get introduced on the web. The rapid spread of social networking site and the increasing number of cyber crime cases have made people more conscious about their personal records on the web and people want their information to be accessed by their friends only. Though people are trying to enhance privacy of their information, the recent news that Facebook will be indexed by Google have annoyed many of the Facebook users.
The social networking site of Facebook has received massive popularity and people here share several personal information about themselves. Sudden changes in the privacy settings and making the data public have increased the concern of users as strangers, without their permission, would be able to learn their personal facts easily. Many Facebook users restrict the access of their information only to their friends and the new policy of Google have made them reconsider about uploading their pictures and other private information on Facebook.
Though it has been reported that Facebook profiles will get indexed by the search engines like Google and Bing, people who want to retain the privacy of their profile need to modify their privacy settings. As stated by sources, there is no need to delete the complete profile if a person does not want to get it indexed by the search engines. He just needs to mark the settings that do not allow the search engines to index the profile and access the information in it.

Umm.. Google indexing Facebook has been going on since late 2007. It’s not new.
Facebookers seriously need to be more proactive in taking care of themselves. Instead of sitting on Facebook all afternoon tilling their Farmvilles they should explore the other 99% of the rest of the whole internet and actually read about Facebook on other websites.
