pot_adAug 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Facebook team is becoming cautious about the ads used by various entities that utilize its platform to reach out to the target audience. Facebook asked a group that supports marijuana legalization to stop using a pot leaf for its ad. Facebook executives are of the opinion that it may encourage people to smoke. Andrew Noyes a Facebook spokesman made it clear that using the image in the ad will not be permitted any more. The executive sent a lucid e mail to the company saying that a marijuana leaf embodies smoking products.

Facebook executives have said they are okay with group advertising as long as it does not interfere with their policies. The ad was allowed to run on Facebook barely for a week as it has been reported. Facebook has said that it is not against the particular ad in question but only wants the image of the leaf to be replaced with a decent one. The ad was meant for those Facebook users whose interests and demographics suggested that they would support legalization of marijuana. The ban has created a sensation among the avid Facebook users and there are plenty of supporters and detractors of the ban.

The issue of legalizing marijuana has become a headline grabbing topic in contemporary US politics. Since the reach of social networking is huge the Just Say Now campaign supporters tried to resort to Facebook to gather support online. The campaign also has a page in Facebook and it used to keep the leaf logo. Now the leaf logo has been replaced with a leaf with black bar.
