Jan 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) From now onwards the users of Facebook who click the Like button for a company or service or check in a store will see their actions sent to the pages of their friends as a sponsored story. It will be paid by the advertisers. The users have no way to stop this action from being executed. According to Facebook this provision offers the advertisers send word of mouth references made by the users on the site. On Facebook a huge amount of content is uploaded and shared every day and from now onwards the ads liked by the users will no longer get lost in the crowd. The privacy setting of the promoted posts will retain that of the original post. This means if a user limits his or her check ins to a number of buddies online only they will receive those promoted posts later.
It has been reported that the promoted content will surface by the user’s home page’s right side. Therefore the users will not get it in the main news feed where the details of their friends and updates are located. However, getting the users involved with product promotion can prove to be a tricky issue for Facebook. A number of experts feel this is equal to companies profiting from people without bothering about taking their consent at all.
The popular micro blogging site Twitter has one similar offering which it calls “promoted tweets”. The number of Facebook users is huge and even if a section of them do not object to this the companies will profit in the long run.
