facebook_thumb_originalSep 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Facebook users were unable to access their profiles on the popular social networking sites for some time which left them confused and annoyed on Thursday. The outage lasted for over 2 and a half hours which was enough to make the users paranoid and angry. The company said it was the worst outage in last 4 years that it had to face. However, Facebook was quick to apologize to its users and it posted a message expressing regret for the problem faced by the users yesterday. It also said that the team found the cause of the failure fast and restored the service soon. The post also said that Facebook is serious about the user grievances and feedback.

Facebook said in a statement that the outage was triggered by a snag developed in one of its automated systems. The users of the social networking sites were shocked to get a DNS error message on their screen and they were at a loss to understand what was happening. Robert Johnson who is the software engineering director at Facebook said that the team had to stop all traffic for some time which created the fiasco. After the issue was solved the affected users were allowed to log in to their accounts.

Facebook is now trying to find new methods to cope with similar situations in future to prevent user woes. The Facebook users who were affected vented their reactions and frustrations on the popular micro blogging site Twitter for the time being. Some writers also tweeted some funny comments after getting the DNS error in Facebook.
