Facebook Outage Lasted For 30 Minutes When Company Tested New Features

FacebookDec 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Facebook - which is considered as the most popular social networking site in recent times went down yesterday for a brief span. The service is used by over 550 million people all over the world and a lot of them found to their dismay that they could not access their accounts on Facebook any longer. They could not understand the cause for some time and some of them apprehended this could be a hacker attack. The service outage was in effect for less than an hour but that was adequate to make the users feel alarmed. Earlier also Facebook suffered attack from malicious hackers who exploited a number of loopholes in the security system of the site. The web security experts have often lashed out at Facebook team for not making the user security and privacy more robust.

Later the cause was found and the users were relieved to know it was no technical flaw nor there was any hacker attack involved behind the service outage. It happened because the Facebook team was testing with a number of new features that are going to be made available to the users in near future. The Facebook users were shocked to see a blank page appearing when they tried to log in their profiles at that time. However, the service was back in place yesterday itself.

Facebook team however expressed their regret for the confusion and inconvenience of the users saying “Facebook is available again after being down for a brief period. We apologize for the inconvenience.” The post appeared on behalf of the team in Twitter, a popular micro blogging site.
