New York, Dec 22 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Facebook’s published list of the most popular games on its platform has been challenged. Several sites wonder why Playdom’s Gardens of Time instead of Zynga’s Cityville, which has the most registered players, ended up at the top of the ranking.

Facebook explained that the ranking was based on the level of player satisfaction. Using that criterion, Facebook placed Cityville at the third postion, behind Electronic Art’s The Sims Social. Doubledown Interactive’s game Doubledown Casino came in the fourth position before another Zynga game Indiana Jones Adventure World wraps up the top five list.

In the general sense, Zynga could be compensated for the fact that the firm has four games in the top ten list. Words With Friends and Empires & Allies occupy the 6th and eighth positions respectively on the rankings.

Nonetheless, some analysts believe that Cityville deserved to be the most popular game on Facebook. The game is played by about 48.8 million users each month. When compared with Gardens of Time’s 8.5 million monthly, the blog site Techcrunch could not help but write that Facebook’s action was a “snub.”

Other games in the top ten list are Buffalo Studios’ Bingo Blitz, Playtika’s Slotomania-Slot Machines and Wooga’s Diamond Dash.
