Facebook inches pass Google in the amount of time wasted

Facebook Sep 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A new research by ComScore Inc reveals that Americans are spending more time on the Facebook than searching with Google.

According to the new data that was released by comScore Inc on Thursday, Americans spent a total of 41.1 million minutes on Facebook and that is 9.9 percent of the total minutes spent on the Internet by Americans.

ComScore said that figure was more than what Americans spent on all Google Inc sites. Americans spent a total of 39.8 million minutes representing 9.6 percent on Google Inc sites include Gmail, Google News, YouTube and all other Google content sites.

Americans spent a total of 37.7 million minutes on Yahoo Inc sites. That was 9.1 percent of all the time Americans spent on the Internet.

It is a significant rise in fame for Facebook. Perhaps with the advent of the popular game Farmville on Facebook, people started spending more time on Facebook. Americans spent less than 5 percent of their total surfing time on the Internet on Facebook last year August. The figure was even far less in 2007. In 2007, Americans spent less than 2 percent of their time on the Internet.
