facebook-virusAug 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Mark Zuckerberg the CEO of Facebook is going gaga over the new places features incorporated in the extremely popular social networking service but the users have reasons to feel worried about. Sophos which is a leading security firm has issued warning for the users of the Facebook about a potentially harmful worm that can make their wallet bleed if they fall in its trap! The newly discovered clickjacking worm spreads through the “share” feature of the service and it may cost the affected users as much as $5 a week as Sophos has said in its statement. It is quite similar to the infamous likejacking worm that hit thousands of Facebook users earlier. However that virus made use of the network’s “Like” button.

As a matter of fact this is the sophomore Facebook scam traced by Sophos in recent times. The Scam enables the users of the service to add “Dislike” button to their profiles. The new worm lures unsuspecting Facebook users to click on the Facebook fan pages with attractive and interesting messages. Thereafter they are asked to click on some buttons and when they do that they unwittingly activate a malicious code that wrecks havoc with their systems.

The catch is that the new worm asks the users to give their cell phone numbers. If they give that they are signed up with a service that charges $5 per week by means of their service provider. When they notice the inflated bill it is quite late. Facebook has responded swiftly to the report published by Sophos and removed the Fan pages affected with the code.
