Facebook Best Workplace To Be In: Says A Survey

Dec 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Facebook - the social networking site with 550 million plus user base is hogging headlines for various reasons. While its CEO recently won the coveted Time’s Person of the Year 2010 award beating some heavyweight contenders, Facebook’s popularity as a workplace is also on the rise. The company was selected as the best US employer by an employment website named Glassdoor on Wednesday. The company was rather small last year and hence was not in any survey but in the last year it has grown rapidly. The top position was held by Southwest Airlines earlier. Facebook has been growing phenomenally and it has attracted a lot of workers from rivals like Google and Apple over the years. The success is reflected in the rating.
Facebook offers attractive remuneration packages to the employees and a number of other benefits. Not only that the company also helps the workers to achieve success faster. The Facebook employees have given a high rating for their employer in the survey. The survey included some aspects like recognition, work/life balance and benefits. Last year’s winner Southwest Airlines got a rating of 4.4 this year while Facebook got the first place with a rating of 4.6. Apple Inc moved up the ladder to 20th position.
Google which held 14th position last year dropped to 30th, which is a bit of a shock. Mark Zuckerberg the cute faced CEO of Facebook also enjoys a high approval rating from his employees. The technology companies that offer online service like Facebook got better overall ratings in the survey compared to the companies that offer off line services and products.
