Dec.10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Environment friendly products and accessories are the flavor of the time. Every company is coming up with eco friendly version of their products that offer reduced carbon footprint and power saving modes. Eco friendly products are helpful for protecting the environment and reducing pollution. However, some companies have gone one step ahead and decided to replace the packaging of their products with materials procured naturally, cutting down on synthetic usage. Bamboo is loved by many people for its versatility and endurance. Dell, one of the largest PC makers of the world has decided to pack some of its laptops in casings made from the bamboo pulp.
From now onwards a large number of Dell laptops and desktops will be packed in cases made from bamboo pulp instead of plastic, foam and papers. Dell has taken all provisions for getting the approval of the green lobbies. The bamboos it has decided to use for packing its products will be derived from the Jiangxi province of China. The Company has said in a statement that this region is not used for grazing by the giant panda, which is an endangered species. The bamboo that Dell is going to use will not have any genetically modified part. It is free of pesticides as well.
The procedure which converts the bamboo stalks to pulp is not chemical, as Dell has said. The process is a bit time consuming but more cost effective in the long run. This may prompt other manufacturers like HP and Lenovo to revamp their packaging and come up with more green alternatives.
