google china Beijing, Jan 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) China denied any sort of involvement in the Google cyberattacks. It also said that Internet censorship was necessary. Chinese authorities made these comments in response to the White House statements. The White House had earlier said that, ‘the US President Barack Obama was also troubled by Google’s claims, that it had been attacked by Chinese hackers.’

Google was quite upset over the Chinese cyberattacks, and has also threatened that it would withdraw all its services in China. Earlier Google had somewhat agreed to the Chinese government censor board, but now after the cyberattacks, it says that it is no longer going to honor the wishes of the Chinese government censors.

Meanwhile the Chinese authorities did their best to defend their country and say that the cyberattacks were not made by China. “The accusation that the Chinese government participated in (any) cyberattack, either in an explicit or inexplicit way, is groundless and aims to denigrate China,” an unnamed spokesman for the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology told Xinhua. “We are firmly opposed to that. China’s policy on Internet safety is transparent and consistent,” he added.

This Google issue is the latest issue to dog the already-troubled Chinese-US relationships. Past issues such as, some trade and currency issues, as well as US arms sales to Taiwan have already rattled them.
