A lot of users of important e-commerce services are facing problems while accessing the websites; the reason behind the cause is that Authorize.net is facing a outage. An electrical fire that had broken out in the Fisher Plaza in downtown Seattle, is the main cause behind the whole online fiasco. The fire interrupted service of a number of websites, including Microsoft’s Bing Travel and Authorize.Net.
Fisher Communications, in their released statement on Friday, has said that the fire at the Fisher Plaza data center had started in the garage level electrical room at approximately 11:10 p.m, on Thursday night. What had caused the fire is still a mystery though, and will only be revealed after the initial phase of investigation.
For anyone who makes purchases online, this is a lot of problem. Authorize.Net is a web based service that is used by online businesses to process credit card and electronic check payments. It is the largest service in the field of accepting credit cards and e-checks, online. With an outage faced by the Authorize.Net, millions of web based transactions and purchases have come to an abrupt standstill.
For all those vendors using the services of the Authorize.Net, it is a grueling time, as they would not be able to accept payments through their websites, until the service is functioning again.
Fortunately, Authorize.Net has set up a new Twitter account at Authorize.Net earlier today, in an effort to keep users informed about the recovery of one of the most important payment systems on the web presently.

They really need to look into a full active-active system so they don’t interrupt service and have a bunch of unhappy customers.
