Munich, Feb 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A court in the German city of Munich has ruled in favor of Apple in a case with rival Motorola involving a patent of the slide to unlock patent. The case was brought against Motorola by Apple who urged the court to cite the phone maker of infringement.

Apple successfully convinced the court to ban Motorola from coming out with two smartphones that used the technology but an attempt to do the same against the Xoom tablet failed. Motorola has indicated that they will appeal the ruling of the court.

With the ruling, Apple has been handed the power to ban all Motorola products that uses the technology. Apple has not made any comments after the ruling and it is not currently clear if they will go ahead with the ban.

Motorola has however assured its customers that they have come up with an option which will ensure that their products will still be sold even if Apple enforces the ban. A statement from the company said that, “[The] ruling in the patent litigation brought by Apple in Munich, Germany, concerns a software feature related to phone unlocking in select Motorola devices sold in Germany. Motorola has implemented a new design for the feature. Therefore, we expect no impact on current supply or future sales.”
