July 28th, 2010 - 3:38 am ICT by BNO NewsCUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA (BNO NEWS) — Apple on Tuesday announced it has updated its all-in-one iMac line with faster processors and better graphics as the new academic semester approaches.
Apple is boosting their iMac line with the latest Intel Core i3, Core i5 and Core i7 processors, featuring dual-core processor speeds up to 3.6 GHz, which feature an integrated memory controller to access the system memory directly, allowing customer to take full advantage of its faster 1333 MHz memory. Improved new graphics will be powered by ATI Radeon HD 5750.
In addition, Apple unveiled their new wireless Magic Trackpad with a glass and aluminum design, which is the same intuitive Multi-Touch gestures that have made the iPhone and iPad a popular product. The Magic Trackpad is a bluetooth device and will be optionally available on all iMacs.
“We took the world’s best all-in-one and made it even better,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing. “With the latest processors, high-performance graphics and signature aluminum and glass design, customers are going to love the latest iMac,” he added as the SD card slot on the iMac will now be supporting the SDXC format as well.
Apple also introduced a new 27-inch LED Cinema Display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and 60 percent more screen real estate than the 24-inch LED Cinema Display. The display also has a built in video camera, iSight, as well as a microphone and speakers.
Depending on the features, the new iMacs will be available from $1,199.00 for the 21.5-inch, 3.06 Ghz processor computer and up to $1,999.00 for a 27-inch, 2560×1440 resolution with a quad-core 2.8 Ghz processor.
