Apple Unveils New Laptop Software At Company’s Headquarters

October 21, 2010 (Pen Men at Work): Apple CEO Steve Jobs recently unveiled a whole new range of thin and light MacBook Air laptops. Jobs said that the new range of MacBook Air will be thinner and lighter than its predecessors. These new laptops will incorporate much desired functionalities from Apple’s other products like iPhone and iPad.

Steve Jobs also launched a new version of the Macintosh Operating system that will be called the ‘Lion’. The latest range of MacBook Air will weigh a mere 2.3-2.9 pounds. The new netbooks will have a standby time of 30 days. Users can surf the internet through wireless networks for 7 hours on a single charge. The new range of MacBook Air will use flash storage rather than conventional hard drives, which makes it lighter and more robust than its contemporaries.

Steve Jobs informed reporters that the new line of computers will be able to take advantage of the new Apps store. This means that the users can download software of their choice from the web store directly.

The app store will be operational within three months but, consumers will have to wait till summer of 2011 to try out the ‘Lion’ Operating system. During the unveiling Jobs said that he wanted to bring the functionalities of the iOS and integrate it with that of the Macintosh Operating systems. The new MacBook Air will combine the functionalities of the iPad with a Netbook; the baseline model will ship at $999. Jobs believes that the new range of laptops will be the future of the notebooks. Apple is confident that the new MacBook Air will catch the fancy of the consumers.
