apple-iphone California, Oct 12 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Apple is known to have the taste for monopoly. Well, that might include phrases as well because the iPhone manufacturer is claiming the right to the catchphrase “there’s an app for that”.

In a trademark application that was filed by the company to the Advertising, Business and Retail Services, Computer and Software Services and Scientific Services categories, the company claims that the phrase was first used in its January 26, 2009 commercial.

According to the trademark application, Apple is demanding an exclusive use of the phrase and it will affect “retail store services featuring computer software provided via the Internet and other computer and electronic communication networks; retail store services featuring computer software for use on handheld mobile digital electronic devices and other consumer electronics.”

Apple uses the catchphrase in most of its commercials and the phrase is used as a great commercial tool by the company in marketing its highly successful iPhone. The phrase has become very popular and it has already found its place in other places apart from technology. The phrase has been adapted for use in entertainment and fashion.

This is not the first time a company seeks to place restriction on the use of a phrase. Nike has a trademark on the phrase “Just Do It”.
