New York, June 10 (THAINDIAN NEWS) iPad maker Apple has taken a stand against apps that encourage users to drive while being drunk. Apple said such apps will not be allowed on the Apple platform and will be rejected from getting into the App Store.

Some apps which run on the Apple platform enable users to be able to see checkpoints and thereby avoid getting caught even when they are driving under influence. Such apps have generated a lot of controversy with critics saying it encourages drivers to drink and drive.

Some lawmakers in Washington have been deliberating on the issue. Some Senators took the next step by urging Apple to take action against such apps because they do not promote safety. The advice seems to have influenced Apple who recently issued a statement announcing their stand with regards to those apps.

The statement said that, “Apps which contain DUI checkpoints that are not published by law enforcement agencies, or encourage and enable drunk driving, will be rejected.”

Every year, several people are killed because of drivers who drive under the influence of alcohol or other brain altering substances. It is an offence in several countries to drive under the influence or alcohol and other substances.
