Apple iPhone 4 Faces New Attack From RIM And Nokia

July 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Apple press Conference that was held yesterday at the Cupertino headquarters of the company has created sensation among everyone. The media entities expected a major update and some even anticipated a recall announcement but nothing of that sort happened. The quick fix offered by Steve Jobs took all by surprise. However, the jibe he took at rival mobile handset manufacturers has left them fuming and they have retaliated at Apple already. Steve Jobs tried to defend iPhone 4 by saying that it is not the only Smartphone with signal reception issue.
The statements made by the Apple CEO have not gone down well with Nokia and RIM and both the companies have shot back. Nokia has said that their phones are known for the features and not so much for design alone. RIM which is the maker of Blackberry phones has gone even further. Steve Jobs mentioned the Blackberry 9700 to suffer from signal reception problems. Two RIM executives Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis said that what he said amounted to distortion of facts. They claimed that Apple is trying to mislead the users in its attempt to cover the intrinsic flaws of its flagship device iPhone 4.
The RIM executives also said that Blackberry handsets are known for their superior antenna design and unlike iPhone they do not give priority to design over performance. They also said no RIM customer would require using a case to avoid reduced signal performance which is a case with the iPhone 4. RIM thinks that Apple should redesign the antenna rather than trying to cover up the flaw.
