ipad-appstoreSep 17, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a startling revelation that has created sensation among the gadget freaks and tech industry, the CEO of Best Buy has said that Apple iPad is eating into notebook sales. The data has been published in a Wall Street journal. The statistics is shocking as it shows that iPad is affecting laptop sales as much as 50 percent. This is nothing short of incredible as the device made its debut March this year. Since its release the iPad is selling in record numbers and it has surpassed the expectation of Apple. Even the limitations of the device like lack of support for Flash has not deterred the buyers much.

The notebook industry is yet to react to this development. What has come as more surprising is the fact that iPad is selling better than Macbooks. A source has said that Asus is one of the companies that are facing the heat from the iPad. Reportedly Jerry Shen the CEO of Asus has admitted that the company has cut down on notebook shipment owing to reduced demand. A number of customers are buying the iPad as a supplementary device to their existing computer or laptop since it is much ore portable and easy to use. Best Buy is going to stock more iPads in its outlets in the USA to cope with the increasing demand for the device.

The iPad has enjoyed phenomenal success and in near future it may enjoy continued popularity despite the fact that many companies are all set to release their version of Internet tablets. Now it remains to be seen how major PC makers like HP and Dell react to this.
