CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA (BNO NEWS) — Apple Inc. on Friday announced a second delay for the release of the white version of the iPhone 4.

“White models of Apple’s new iPhone 4 have continued to be more challenging to manufacture than we originally expected, and as a result they will not be available until later this year,” the company said, explaining that these issues will not affect the black iPhone 4’s, which is the current available model.

Apple did not disclose any further details nor explained the manufacturing problems with the white version of their smartphone, but several media outlets are questioning whether a change of color could actually be affecting the production of the popular phone itself.

The long awaited iPhone 4 had an immediate impact, selling 1.7 million phones only three days after its release. However, one week ago, Apple announced that customers owning the iPhone 4 would be able to claim a free case (valued at $29), as a response to upset customers following issues and numerous complaints with the phone’s antenna.
