Apple Confirms iPad WiFi Issues And Offer Solutions

ipad-apps-appstore Apr 07 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Within a very short time after it’s launch, iPad customers began to complain about seriously poor WiFi connections. It was believed at first to be caused by the fact that the antenna is located on the back of the device, causing it to rest against your legs if you set it on your lap while using it. In this position, the antenna would be covered by the surface of the lap.

Apple has now confirmed that there are indeed issues with the device and it’s WiFi connections, but they say that it has nothing to do with the antenna or any other Apple hardware. They claim instead that it is third party routers which are causing the iPad issues.

Apple explains in a knowledge base support article which is titled “iPad: Does not automatically rejoin known Wi-Fi networks” that using the same network name for both types of connections may cause a problem, as will having different security settings for each network. They offer this solution: Create separate Wi-Fi network names to identify each band. This can be done easily by appending one or more characters to the current network name. Example: Add a G to the 802.11b/g network name and an N to the 802.11n network name. Ensure that both networks use the same security type (WEP, WPA, WPA2, and so on) Apple goes on to say that if those instructions do not work, then you can try resetting your network settings. You can read more on this at the Apple Support Page.

For those who are not tech savvy, this may all be a little difficult to understand, but hopefully the issues will be resolved soon. It is often the case for new electronic gadgets to have glitches when they are first released into the public. With patience these things usually manage to be worked out to the customer’s satisfaction. It is, after all, in the best interest of a company to make their customers happy.
