Oct 27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The latest tech rumor that is doing the rounds in the web is that Apple - the Cupertino based Technology giant is considering acquiring Sony, the Japan based electronics behemoth. However, there is no substantial evidence that any such acquisition will happen. So far none of the companies have said anything officially on the subject. However, the rumors doing rounds in the web helped the shares of Sony go up by almost 3 percent on Monday. The CEO of Apple Steve Jobs recently talked about the possibilities of an acquisition and maybe that is what prompted the rumor mongers to spread the story. Sony is now trying to regain the place it once had in the consumer electronics market.

If Apple indeed buys Sony that would a boon for the gadget freaks and technology addicts as both companies are regarded as innovators in digital media technology. The Apple CEO recently said that Apple is in a position to think about aggressive acquisition. John Sculley the former CEO of Apple also said something in a recent interview that added fuel to the fire. He said that Apple considers Sony as a highly admirable company that brought the concept of walkman. Steve Jobs hot fascinated by the Walkman when he saw it for the first time.

The acquisitions in software and technology industry are nothing new. The acquisition of Palm Inc by HP is one such example. However, it is not in all cases that such rumors prove to be true. Earlier in October, a meeting between Shantanu Narayen the Adobe CEO and Steve Ballmer made the industry think that Adobe may merge with Microsoft.
