After 3 decades, Sony stops the production of the walkman

Tokyo, Oct 25 (THAINDIAN NEWS) After 30 years, Sony has stopped the production of its Walkman players.
The Walkman used cassette tape and it was very famous in the 80’s and early 90s. The device’s popularity went down with the introduction of digital multimedia. Digital multimedia changed the way music is enjoyed all over the world.
The production of Walkman stopped on Friday and coincidentally that was a day less than the ninth anniversary of the iPod. The iPod and the Walkman are typical example of two generations of technology.
While the Walkman was the generation for analog music, the iPod offered a better was to enjoy the music by offering storage and more music by playing the MP3 format.
The Walkman undoubtedly changed the way people enjoyed their music. It gave the independence to continue on the road while listening to your music.
Sony managed to get some 200 million devices out of production. Between the period the first Walkman was produced in 1978 to the last day on Friday, the company managed to sell some 200 million pieces of the product and that is a remarkable figure.
The Walkman will really be missed and the lucky few that still have the device must do well and keep them for a souvenir because the Walkman will forever hold a place in history when music players are discussed.
