Zenyatta Registers 17th Consecutive Victory

zenInglewood, California, June 14, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Champion racehorse Zenyatta registered yet another victory by a half length in the Vanity Handicap in Hollywood Park on Sunday.

The win was indeed an amazing feat achieved by the racehorse which has managed to remain undefeated in 17 consecutive races. With Sunday’s victory in the Vanity Handicap, Zenyatta earned the recognition of the longest winning streak recorded by a modern thoroughbred.

The 6 year old racehorse came from its usual last place and overtook St. Trinians along the last 200 yards by a half length to ensure her victory in the 69th Vanity Handicap yesterday. Zenyatta was able to cover Sunday’s race at the Hollywood Park in about 1 minute, 49.01 seconds and with it created an unprecedented record.

While reacting to the stupendous feat achieved by the racehorse, owner Jerry Moss who was visibly delighted, added that it was indeed an awesome gift to have a horse as amazing as Zenyatta. At the same time, the overjoyed owner attributed Zenyatta’s victory to her undying spirit to not get defeated.

Although the racehorse was ultimately successful in tasting victory, there was a moment during the race when it seemed that Zenyatta might not be able to make it this time around. However, to the utter delight of the large number of crowd gathered at the grandstand at Hollywood Park, she was able to race towards triumph while approaching the finishing line.

With her incredible win yesterday, Zenyatta surpassed the legacy of other racehorses such as Cigar, Mister Frisky as well as 1948 Triple Crown winner Citation with respect to consecutive wins.
