zenyattaNov.8, (THAINDIAN News) It is not everyday that a racing mare zooms past the male horses amidst stiff competition and a series of hurdles. That is preciously what Zenyatta did at Santa Anita on Saturday. The event was no less dramatic than a Hollywood potboiler. The mare that sent the temperature soaring in the race, drew rave review from the viewers and her jockey. Zenyatta achieved a feat by winning the famous Breeders’ Cup Classic, a $5 million championship. It was an essentially male dominated event for the last few decades with mares rarely coming anywhere close to the winner.

The race was watched by a boisterous crowd that was well over an overwhelming figure of 58,000. What made Zenyatta’s achievement more praiseworthy is the fact that she did not have a smooth start at all. She had to cope with a delayed start and a half mile short gap to catch up with the contesting male horses. A number of winners were ahead of her but she managed to beat them in the end. Her jockey Smith, had a tough time in the last turn. He was desperately trying to locate a gap between the contesting horses ahead of Zenyatta. When she galloped past the other horses the viewers went berserk with excitement.

Everyone at the venue was excited at her dramatic win and they heaped praises on her. However, her owner, Jerry Moss has decided that she would not be put in horse racing for long. According to him, the mare has achieved a lot and she should quit the game as a winner.
