Zardari says PPP has a working relationship with MusharrafMay 26th, 2008 - 12:57 pm ICT by admin
Islamabad, May 26 (ANI): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said that the PPP has a working relationship with President Pervez Musharraf.
The Daily Times quoted Zardari as saying that his party could gather the support of the required number of parliamentarians for President Musharrafs impeachment, but it did not believe in confrontation.
Economic and political stability is our first priority, he said.
Zardari said his party favoured political reconciliation and wanted to resolve the judicial crisis at the negotiation table, and added that he is ready to hold talks with any political entity, including Musharraf.
The PPPs draft of its constitutional reforms package was not a final document and might be changed if so required, he added.
He said he had invited Supreme Court Bar Association President Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan for a dialogue over the issue of reinstating the sacked judges. The coalition government is ready for a dialogue, but would not give in to pressure groups, he added.
He denied that the proposed reforms package would reduce the chief justices tenure to three years, adding that he hoped the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz would rejoin the federal cabinet soon. (ANI)
