Zaheer ruled out of series against Sri Lanka
July 7th, 2010 - 12:19 am ICT by IANSNew Delhi, July 6 (IANS) India’s pace spearhead Zaheer Khan has been ruled out of the away Test series against Sri Lanka with a shoulder injury.
Karnataka seamer Abhimanyu Mithun has been named as Zaheer’s replacement.
“Zaheer Khan has been ruled out of the forthcoming Sri Lanka series because of a shoulder injury. The national selection committee has chosen to replace him with Abhimanyu Mithun,” Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary N.Srinivasan said in a statement here Tuesday.
India will play three Tests against Sri Lanka with the first Test scheduled at Galle July 18.
India will also play an ODI tri-series, also featuring New Zealand, starting Aug 10.
The squad for the tri-series will be announced later.
