London, June 12 (IANS) Yuvraj Singh has been named vice-captain of the Indian cricket team in place of injured Virender Sewhag for the ongoing World Twenty20.
Sehwag was ruled out of the championship with a shoulder injury.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement Friday that Yuvraj will be Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s deputy in Sehwag’s absence.

Sehwag, who did not play a single match, has been replaced by Dinesh Karthik.

Sehwag had said he was injured during the Indian Premier League semi-final and it led to speculation that the opener did not come clean on his injury before the World Twenty20.
