Yuriorkis Gamboa Snatches IBF Title From Orlando Salido After Unanimous Decision

Las Vegas, Sep 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Yuriorkis Gamboa remains undefeated still. The WBA featherweight champion, Yuriorkis Gamboa, on Saturday won the IBF title against Orlando Salido after a unanimous decision went in favor. Yuriorkis Gamboa (19-0) was awarded 116-109, 114-109 and 115-109 by the three judges. The bout that took place at Palms Casino, Las Vegas turned out to be an interesting one as both Yuriorkis Gamboa and Orlando Salido came up with some brilliant moves.
World Boxing Association featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa took a lead early on Saturday night, attacking Orlando Salido in the very first round with a left hook. However, as the game proceeded, Orlando Salido proved that he was not a meek contender but a tough one with whom one needs to engage in some serious fight. Towards the middle rounds, Orlando Salido came up with some brilliant moves and the momentum seemed to shift from Yuriorkis Gamboa to the former. Yuriorkis Gamboa committed multiple fouls and received warning from referee Joe Cortez. He was warned for holding Orlando Salido’s head in the clinch and also for throwing a late punch towards the end of the seventh round. In the eighth round, Orlando Salido scored a knockdown against Yuriorkis Gamboa. However, the latter came up with some aggressive moves towards the later rounds and thwarted all knockdown attempts of Orlando Salido.
It was in the twelfth round of the Yuriorkis Gamboa and Orlando Salido game that the former came up with great play. Yuriorkis Gamboa knocked down Orlando Salido in the 12th round. After the win, Yuriorkis Gamboa said to media sources that his Saturday night fight was one of his greatest fights till date against a “very good opponent”.
