Yuki to open against qualifier in ONGC-ITF tournament

Kolkata, Sep 27 (IANS) India’s teenage sensation and fifth-seeded Yuki Bhambri will open his campaign against qualifier Rohan Gide in the $15,000 ONGC-ITF Futures tournament that begins here Monday.
Third seed and national grasscourt champion Vishnu Vardhan takes on compatriot Vivek Shokeen in another opening round match at the Bengal Tennis Association Complex.

Top seeded New Zealander Daniel King-Turner will face S. Narayanswami in the first round, while second ranked German Alexander Satschko is drawn against India’s Vikram Reddy.

Others to qualify for the six-day event are Chin-Yu Huang of Teipei, Tamil Nadu boys Sudanwa Sitraram, Mithun Murali and Elwin Anthony, Lakshit Sood of Uttar Pradesh and Christopher Marquis of Maharashtra.

Two from the host city are also in the main draw. Saurav Sukul has been given a wild card entry while Rupesh Roy, now based in the US, has been seeded eighth.

Wild card entries have also been given to Purav Raja, Ajai Selvaraj and Chandril Sood.
