Yuki keeps India in contention in Junior Davis Cup

New Delhi, Sep 25 (IANS) Yuki Bhambri once again saved the day for India after Saurabh Singh went down fighting to Ashley Hewitt in the opening singles against Britain in the Junior Davis Cup at San Luis Potosil, Mexico, Thursday.Saurabh, who had also lost his singles match against Mexico, was a set down but fought back before fizzling out 4-6, 7-6(5), 4-6 in 2 hours and 45 minutes. But Yuki pummelled James Marsalek 6-1, 6-0 in 45 minutes to draw parity.

The deciding doubles in which Yuki and Saurabh were up against Ashley Hewitt and George Morgan was postponed because of rain with India winning the first set 6-4 and Yuki serving at 5-6 in the second.

He lost the first set with a break of serve in the sixth and the tenth game but was in far more control in the second set as both players traded a break each before Saurabh took the set by winning the tie-break.

Saurabh lost his serve twice in the third and the seventh game before pulling one back in the sixth. The Indian had four break point in the 12th but squandered all to lose the set and the match.

India plays Brazil Thursday in a crucial tie for both the teams. Brazil too is tied up 1-1 with Mexico and playing the doubles match unfinished with Mexico leading 3-2.
